Beakuency zine presentation on October 26
On October 26, 2025 at the North Chatham Free Library, I gave a presentation about the Beakuency art zine project. “You are indispensable, not because you’re special or better than others, but because you’re here, now” is the theme of this presentation. I specifically discussed citizen science, one of several themes in the zine, what it’s like to participate in one, why it matters and how others can join. I also spoke about its influence on my work as an artist, and how its mindset resonates with the principles of the Mingei Japanese folk art movement, which inspired me to pursue art 30 years ago. It was so wonderful to have a good number of attendances, and supported by my birding friends.
Beakuency zine distribution begins!
Beakuency zine is now out and distribution has started! Currently you can pick up a physical copy for free at:

Zines were also given away for free at CREATE Council on the Arts’ open house event on November 16th.
